Pearl, Matte and Tri-Coat
Pearl and tri-coat colours are three layers deep, so we blend into the panels beside the repair, the only way the join disappears in sunlight. Why Layered Colours Behave Differently in the Sun
A solid colour is one layer, so a match either works or it doesn’t. Pearl and tri-coat build colour and shimmer in layers, so the angle of light changes how a match reads, which is why blending into neighbouring panels matters more than nailing the code exactly.
Matte’s Different Problem Entirely
Matte finishes can’t be cut or polished the way gloss can. One pass with a polisher and the sheen turns glossy in patches, permanently. Repair means repainting the panel in matte clear and matching the sheen level, not touching it up.
