Stow Smash Repairs fixes accident damage at our Artarmon workshop, and has since 1965. We take insurance jobs and private work across the North Shore. Every structural repair is measured on the Car‑O‑Liner and Global Jig against factory datum points. Every colour is matched in our booth with PPG waterborne paint. Send us photos or visit our workshop for an assessment. We'll provide a transparent estimate based on the information available, with honest advice and no unnecessary upselling.
Step 02
Strip it back.
We pull the covers and trim and find what the shiny plastic hides. Brackets, absorbers, sensors, crush zones.
Step 03
Pull it true.
Structural damage goes on the Car-O-Liner and Global Jig. We electronically measure against the manufacturer’s datum points and pull the body back to tolerance.
Step 04
Paint and refit.
Panels are repaired or replaced, primed, and matched in the booth. Everything goes back on and gets checked twice.
Step 05
Hand back with proof.
Photos from every stage, the jig report, and a walk around the car with us before you drive off.

It Just Happened

Rear ended and the bumper is hanging off.

Don't tape it and hope. A dragging bumper can catch a wheel or drop onto the road. If the car is otherwise sound we can secure it, or tow it in. Then we check what's crushed behind the cover before quoting the whole repair.

A car that pulls after a crash is telling you the geometry has moved. That's suspension, steering or body structure. Stop driving it and get it measured. A wheel alignment alone won't fix a shifted chassis leg.

Photograph the damage and the spot before you move the car. Note the time and check for CCTV or dashcams nearby. Without the other driver identified, your excess usually applies, so get our private estimate also. Then the claim-or-pay decision is yours with real figures.

A door that won't shut usually means the opening has moved, not the door. That's structural. The gaps tell us where the force went. We measure the aperture on the jig and pull it back square.

Deployed airbags don't automatically mean a write-off. It comes down to what fired and what the repair costs against the car's value. We quote the full job, modules included, so you can argue with real numbers.

What It Costs

What does a bumper repair cost without insurance?: A cover that can be repaired costs far less than a replacement with sensors behind it. Paint is often the biggest line. Send photos and you'll have a same-day estimate.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace the bumper?: Repair wins when the cover is scuffed or cracked in one spot. Replacement wins when the tabs are torn or the sensors are damaged. We price it both ways and show you the difference.
Front or rear end damage. What’s a realistic estimate?: Photos get you a quote the same day. The number firms up once the covers are off. Whatever we find under there, you hear about it before we touch it.

Is my car safe to drive after a crash?

If anything rubs, leaks, or the steering pulls, stop driving it. A bent car hides damage you can't see from the driver's seat. The tow costs less than the second accident.

Someone hit my parked car and left a note. What now?

Photograph the note and the damage before anything else. Then lodge with their insurer or yours. You're not at fault and shouldn't be out of pocket. We handle that paperwork daily.

Who checks chassis alignment after an accident?

We measure the body on the Car-O-Liner and Global Jig, against the manufacturer's datum points. Millimetres, not eyeballs.

What hidden damage should I worry about after a low-speed rear-ender?

Bumper covers spring back over crushed brackets, absorbers and sensors. The shiny plastic tells you nothing. Ten minutes with the cover off tells you everything.
